Educator Honored for State Bilingual Training

Michelle Cavazos, a fifth-grade trainer at McAllen ISD’s Sanchez Elementary, has earned one of many prime awards for bilingual training.
Earlier this month, she was named the 2022 Bilingual Training Trainer of the 12 months by the Texas Affiliation for Bilingual Training (TABE). She was acknowledged by the McAllen ISD College Board throughout its common assembly held September 26.
She might be offered together with her award on the fiftieth annual TABE Convention October 15 in Houston.
“Her dedication to the wants of English-language learners and her excellent management attributed to TABE choosing Ms. Cavazos to characterize the bilingual lecturers of Texas,” TABE President Dr. Olivia Hernandez wrote in a letter. “The TABE Government Board and the choice committee congratulate Ms. Cavazos and want her the easiest as she represents the Bilingual Training lecturers of Texas.”
Cavazos will then grow to be the TABE nominee within the Nationwide Affiliation for Bilingual Training (NABE) Trainer of the 12 months competitors.

Cavazos has taught fifth graders in a twin language classroom at Sanchez for 5 years. Seeing herself in her college students drives her ardour, she mentioned.

In McAllen ISD’s twin language program, college students be taught to learn, write and communicate in each English and Spanish. This system is housed at seven elementary campuses, one center college and one highschool.
Cavazos can relate to her college students, having grown up in McAllen. She graduated from James “Nikki” Rowe Excessive in 2014.
“She is a residing testomony of your true restricted English proficient youngster who labored diligently to be taught the English language and excelled past all expectations and now shares her expertise, data and experiences together with her personal college students,” Rodriguez mentioned. “We’re past blessed to have a trainer of her caliber on our campus.”
Cavazos earned the Rio Grande Valley TABE Bilingual Trainer of the 12 months honor on Might 19.
